inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Chairman Ahmad Muzani emphasized the importance of women's roles in maintaining national values and strengthening the quality of human resources (HR) as provisions towards Indonesia Emas 2045.
In a statement, he said that Indonesia is quite advanced in providing space for women's participation as shown by the contrast of women's emancipation since the beginning of independence.
He conveyed this when opening a seminar entitled "Women's Leadership for Advanced and Prosperous Indonesia" organized by the HMI Wati Corps (KOHATI) through the HMI-Wati Alumni Forum (Forhati) at the Nusantara V Building, Senayan Complex, Jakarta, Friday (5/23/2025).
"Not a few women at that time have become members of the House of Representatives and ministers. Even the first judge in Indonesia appointed by President Soekarno in 1954 was also a woman, namely Siti Soendari," he said.
He also expressed her appreciation for the dedication of Forhati members who are considered to have actively contributed to the future of the nation through various fields, including education, social, and politics.
"The sacrifices of the mothers who are members of FORHATI are real. Leaving their homes, families, and even husbands to gather here, in order to pay attention to the nation," he said.
He then reminded that the challenges in the future are quite heavy, namely the low quality of human resources (HR), even the average education of Indonesian people stops at junior high school level and only 10 percent continue to undergraduate level.
To that end, he emphasized the importance of the role of regulation in supporting women, as well as encouraging Indonesian women to continue learning and increasing their capacity through various educational opportunities, including scholarships.
