inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Deputy Minister of Human Rights (Wamenham) Mugiyanto Sipin emphasized Indonesia's commitment to advancing human rights values in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region.

This was conveyed by him in the 6th ASEAN Human Rights Dialogue forum at the ASEAN Secretariat Building, Jakarta.

"Our goal is to create a region where everyone can live in freedom, where their voices are heard, and where every individual is empowered to reach their full potential," said Mugiyanto on Tuesday (11/5/2024).

He explained that the government of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has a strong commitment to the development of human rights in Indonesia.

President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran made human rights the main foundation of the Astacita mission. To strengthen the commitment to human rights development, the President established the Ministry of Human Rights as a stand-alone ministry.

Furthermore, Mugiyanto explained that the establishment of the Ministry of Human Rights aims to promote justice and equality within the country. This ministry also aims to strengthen Indonesia's contribution to efforts to advance human rights in Southeast Asia.

According to him, efforts to advance human rights cannot be separated from the role and contribution of national human rights institutions, civil society organizations, and academics.

For this reason, at the ASEAN Human Rights Dialogue forum, he also reaffirmed Indonesia's dedication to an inclusive and multi-stakeholder approach to human rights issues.

The Ministry of Human Rights views the forum as an important moment for policy makers to engage in constructive dialogue, share best practices, and build collaborative solutions that respect the dignity and rights of every individual in the ASEAN region.
