inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Deputy for Regional Development of the Ministry of National Development Planning, Tri Dewi Firgiyanti, said that it is important to strengthen village development to face the climate crisis.
According to data from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), there are 9,075 villages vulnerable to disasters and the impacts of the climate crisis.
"Indications of environmental preservation include strengthening village resilience to climate change, and strengthening disaster response," said Deputy Tri.
Therefore, Deputy Tri emphasized the importance of local economic transformation, social resilience and preservation of the rural environment.
He explained that strengthening the local economy is directed at developing superior village products through the development of IKM Centers, transformation of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes), transformation of integrated village economies, and development of rural tourism.
Meanwhile, social resilience is directed at inclusive villages and social accountability, increasing the preservation and resilience of local village customs and culture values.
In addition, rural development is part of Astacita and the 6th National Priority, namely building from the village and from below for economic growth, economic equality, and poverty eradication.
Village development is a mandate of the Village Law. According to the law, villages have their own autonomy, so it is necessary to improve the quality of village planning and development as well as policy alignment between supra-village and village.
As is known, currently, the government is implementing the Village Government and Development Strengthening (P3PD) program. There are 5 components involved, namely the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Villages, Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, Ministry of Finance, and Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas.
