Inp.polri.go.id - Wamena.  The Indonesian Air Force Detachment at Korinus Krey Wamena has confirmed that Wamena Airport remains secure despite recent unrest in Jayawijaya, Papua Mountains

“If any emergency arises, the Air Force will take over full control of airport security,” said Detachment Commander Lieutenant Colonel. Kamto Adi Syaputra on Wednesday (11/6/2025) as quoted by antaranews.com.

He explained that the airport’s security is supported by elite Air Force personnel (Pasgat), the Indonesian National Police (INP)’s Mobile Brigade units (Brimob), local military command soldiers, and other reinforcements.

“All flight operations are currently running smoothly, and the airport remains a vital object that must be fully protected,” Commander Kamto said.

Wamena relies heavily on air transport for daily logistics and economy, making the airport’s function critical.
