Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Tuesday that 108 of the 140 Indonesian migrant workers living in the fire-stricken Wang Fuk Court apartment complex in Tai Po, Hong Kong, have been accounted for and are safe. “One Indonesian remains hospitalized, while 108 have been confirmed safe,” the ministry said in a written statement.
The number of Indonesian fatalities remains at nine, while 22 others are still unaccounted for as search and identification efforts continue. All 140 Indonesians residing in the building were domestic migrant workers, according to the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong.
The massive fire on 26 November killed at least 151 people, injured 79, and left dozens missing. Hong Kong authorities have detained 14 individuals, including main contractors, scaffolding subcontractors, and technical consultants, as part of the investigation.
The Indonesian Consulate has formed a family coordination team to assist with victim identification and the eventual repatriation of remains.
