Inp.polri.go.id - Purwakarta.  Twelve passengeres were killed and several others injured in a fatal single-vehicle accident at the KM 72 Toll Cikopo junction in Purwakarta, West Java, on Friday (15/12/2023). Sri Mulyo, the Head of Astra Cipali Toll Road Operations Division, explained that  the accident involved a Handoyo bus, which was travelling from Yogyakarta to Bogor, antaranews.com. The vehicle was was due to exit at the Cikampek junction when the driver allegedly failed to anticipate the speed of the vehicle, causing the bus to overturn and hit the guardrail. The final position of the overturned vehicle was tilted to the east. In this devastating incident, 12 people lost their lives, one was seriously injured and eight others suffered minor injuries. Medical personnel have evacuated the victims to Radjak Hospital Purwakarta and Siloam Hospital Purwakarta. "We express our deepest condolences for the tragic accident at the Cikampek junction. May the victims and their families find strength and resilience in the face of this event," said Sri Mulyo. The case is now under the investigation of the Law Enforcement Unit of the Purwakarta Sub-Regional Police Traffic Unit. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
