13 Ships Search for Missing Taiwanese Man in Thousand Islands

On the fourth day of rescue operations, a joint team has deployed 13 ships to search for a missing Taiwanese man near Rambut Island in Thousand Islands, following the capsizing of the KM Pari Kudus ship on Monday. Agung Priambodo, the Head of Operations at the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Jakarta, announced the resumption of search activities at 7.3 am on Thursday (14/3/2024). The search vessels included those from Basarnas, the Water and Air Police of the Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police, and the Indonesian National Police (INP) Security Maintenance Agency (Baharkam). In total, 13 vessels, including rubber boats, were involved in the search efforts, with 82 personnel deployed. The search area has been expanded towards the east to the Gembong Estuary. A Taiwanese man, identified as Shi Yi, was reported missing after the KM Pari Kudus ship capsized, carrying 35 people, including 10 foreigners. The vessel was bound for Mutiara Beach in North Jakarta from Asha Resort in Payung Island, South Thousand Islands. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
