Inp.polri.go.id - Semarang.  Semarang's historic Old Town area experienced flooding on Thursday (14/3/2024) due to heavy rainfall since Wednesday, with water levels reaching 20 to 50 cm, rendering several roads impassable for motor
vehicles.
Superintendent Yunaldi, the Head of Traffic at the Semarang City Sub-regional Police, advised the public to avoid the Old Town and seek alternative routes due to ongoing flooding caused by the intense rain.
He urged train passengers heading to Semarang Tawang Station to plan their journeys carefully as the station had to suspend operations due to the flood. Chief Yunaldi observed that floodwaters in some parts of Semarang had begun to recede by Thursday morning compared to the previous night. Flooding and landslides have affected Semarang, Central Java, due to moderate to heavy rainfall since Wednesday afternoon until nightfall, disrupting train services along the North Coast route.
