Inp.polri.go.id - Bandung. Bandung Sub-regional Police arrested 142 people during an anti-thuggery operation in the Kahatex industrial area, Rancaekek, in response to public complaints about frequent extortion during pay periods.
Bandung Police Chief Senior Superintendent. Aldi Subartono said on Sunday (11/5/2025) the crackdown is part of enhanced routine patrols.
“We acted after receiving reports that during payday periods, there’s a surge in thuggery and extortion in this area,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com
Chief Aldi emphasized that industrial safety is a priority due to its economic contribution and investment appeal.
Some of the 142 arrested have been named suspects, while others remain under investigation.
“We will take firm, measured action against anyone trying to extort or intimidate workers or businesses. There will be zero tolerance,” he warned.
Bandung Police plan to increase deployment during critical periods to deter similar crimes.
