Inp.polri.go.id - Balikpapan. The Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs is monitoring anti-thuggery operations targeting civil society organizations, locally known as ormas, linked to criminal activity in East Kalimantan, a region with growing investment interest.

Deputy for Domestic Political Affairs Major. General Heri Wiranto said the region was prioritized due to its economic potential.

“There are disturbances from certain organization actors, but so far, they have not significantly affected the investment climate,” he said during a coordination meeting over the weekend..

East Kalimantan Regional Police Deputy Chief Brigadier General Sabilul Alif stressed joint efforts with Mulawarman Military and local administrations  to counter disruptive ormas, according to antaranews.com.

The region hosts 3,467 organizations, of which 931 are monitored. The monitoring follows a 6 May 2025 inter-ministerial coordination meeting on handling ormas-related security threats.
