Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Monday (21/4/2025) that 15 Indonesian citizens have been affected by intensified immigration enforcement under President Donald Trump’s administration in the United States, with some detained and at least one deported.

“Among them is Aditya Harsono Wicaksono, 33, who was arrested in Minnesota on March 27 for alleged immigration violations, possibly linked to his involvement in Black Lives Matter protests in 2021,” said Judha Nugraha, the Director for the Protection of Citizens and Legal Entities, as quoted by antaranews.com

The ministry is coordinating with six Indonesian diplomatic missions across the U.S., including in Washington D.C., Chicago, and Los Angeles, to provide legal support and consular access. Judha emphasized close communication with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Department of Homeland Security.

To raise awareness, Indonesian missions are educating citizens about their legal rights, including the right to consular access and legal representation, and the right to remain silent without a lawyer present.
