Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo expected that Indonesia will submit a bid to host the 2027 Sudirman Cup, reviving national enthusiasm for badminton.

Indonesia last hosted the prestigious mixed-team championship in 1989.

Speaking at the national training center in Jakarta on Monday (21/4/2025), he said, “This is one of our strategies to reignite the spirit and motivation of our badminton ecosystem, from upstream to downstream.”

Minister Dito also linked the bid to the upcoming election of BWF President, where Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul of Thailand is the sole candidate. He sees her potential election as a chance for more international tournaments in Asia, including in Indonesia, according to antaranews.com.

The 2025 Sudirman Cup will be held in Xiamen, China, from 27 April to 4 May 2025. Indonesia will field a team blending youth and experience, with hopes of reaching the finals.
