Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto conveyed his condolences following the death of Pope Francis, leader of the Roman Catholic Church, at the age of 88.
“With deep sorrow, I received the news of the passing of Pope Francis,” he said in an official statement shared on his Instagram account on Monday evening (21/4/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The President shared two photos from his meeting with Pope Francis, showing the two leaders shaking hands. He reflected on the Pope’s significant contributions to peace, humanity, and brotherhood, adding that the world has lost a great role model.
President Prabowo also recalled the Pope’s visit to Jakarta last year, which left a lasting impression not only on Catholics but also on all Indonesians. He highlighted Pope Francis’s advocacy for simplicity, pluralism, and concern for the poor as values that will continue to inspire many.
Pope Francis passed away at his residence in Vatican City on Monday morning.
