The Directorate of Investigation for the Protection of Women and Children and the Crime of Human Trafficking (PPA-TPPO) has arrested 152 people in connection with the mass demonstration around the House of Representatives (DPR) on Thursday (August 27th). They comprised 149 boys and three adult women.
The Director of Investigation for PPA-TPPO, Senior Superintendent Rita Wulandari Wibowo, stated that the arrests were part of the police's efforts to prevent potential disturbances, particularly those involving minors.
Of the 152 identified, 123 are registered as active students, while 25 are not attending school.
"Of the total number of people arrested, we have repatriated 141. Currently, five children are waiting to be picked up by their parents, two are under investigation, and there are new cases that we are investigating," Rita said at a press conference in Jakarta on Friday (8/28/2026).
Meanwhile, five children were designated as Children in Conflict with the Law (ABH) after police discovered alleged intent and preparation to carry out dangerous acts.
Police also confiscated several pieces of evidence, including gasoline mixed with dried Bintaro fruit. According to Rita, the mixture was allegedly prepared to be burned and thrown into the crowd.

The handling of the children involved several parties, including the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation, the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Jakarta Provincial Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Unit (UPT PPA), and the Correctional Center of the Directorate General of Corrections, Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
During the investigation, the children, both witnesses and alleged perpetrators, received assistance from professional Social Workers and Community Guidance from the Correctional Center. The counselor also compiled a Community Research (Litmas) as one of the considerations in the legal process.
Rita emphasized that the entire handling process adheres to Law Number 11 of 2012 concerning the Juvenile Criminal Justice System (SPPA), prioritizing the best interests of the child.
