The Indonesian National Police's (INP) Special Detachment 88 (Densus 88) has arrested 18 suspects involved in terrorist acts in six provinces between 2 and 19 October, the head of the Public Affairs Bureau at the INP's Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, said on Thursday (26/10). Six suspects were arrested in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), five in South Sumatra, four in Lampung and one each in West Kalimantan, West Java and West Sumatra. "These suspects are from various terrorist groups, including Anshor Daulah and Jamaah Islamiyah," he said. He said the first arrest, on 2 October in West Sumatra, involved a suspect who had been involved in social media propaganda. On 5 October, another suspect, who is known to be a member of the Anshor Daulah terrorist group, was arrested in West Java Further arrests were made in South Sumatra on 15 and 16 October, with five suspects identified as members of the Jamaah Islamiyah group. Law enforcement efforts continued in Lampung on 18 October, resulting in the arrest of four individuals, also members of the Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) group. The following day, from 19 to 23 October, Densus 88 conducted law enforcement operations in West Nusa Tenggara, resulting in the arrest of six suspects identified as members of the Anshor Daulah group. The spokesman added that Densus 88 continued to make maximum efforts to prevent potential acts of terrorism in the country. "Basically, there is no increase in the threat of terrorist activities.
