inp.polri.go.id - Aceh Tamiang. Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian revealed that the total number of houses damaged by the series of disasters in Sumatra reached approximately 213,000. This data is based on the latest report received by the central government and is subject to change.

"The Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) just provided the most recent data, as this data is continuously updated. As of now, the total number of houses affected is approximately 213,000," said the Minister of Home Affairs in Aceh Tamiang, Thursday (1/1/2026).

He explained that the government, through BNPB, will provide assistance with home repair costs. The assistance will be distributed according to the level of damage.

Houses categorized as lightly damaged will receive IDR 15 million, while those with moderate damage will receive IDR 30 million. In addition, the Ministry of Social Affairs will distribute additional assistance for household needs and economic recovery for affected residents.

"This data is also used by the Ministry of Social Affairs to provide IDR 3 million in funding to supplement the cost of housing, such as damaged chairs and beds, and IDR 5 million for economic needs," he said.

Meanwhile, for houses categorized as severely damaged or lost, the government will provide replacement housing. The assistance scheme includes temporary housing or the provision of housing waiting funds (DTH) for affected residents.

"And the concept is to provide temporary housing or they have the option of also being provided with waiting list fees," he explained.

However, Tito emphasized that the figure of 213,000 damaged houses could still change as new reports from the regions come in. He asked local governments to immediately submit field data quickly.
