Inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang.  The Tangerang Immigration Office has detained 27 Sri Lankan nationals from an apartment in Tangerang Regency for causing unrest and proven immigration violations. Rakha Sukma Purnama, the Head of the Tangerang Immigration Office, said on Tuesday (19/12/2023) that the investigation of the 27 Sri Lankan nationals was based on the public, antaranews.com reported. "Together with the South Tangerang Sub-regional Police, we conducted surveillance and document checks before bringing them to our office for further investigation," he said. The investigation revealed that most of them had violated Article 78 paragraph 2 and 3 of Law No. 6 of 2011 on Immigration, resulting in administrative immigration measures such as deportation and refusal of entry.  In addition, there were some of them who were suspected for violating Article 71 paragraph b and 75 of the Immigration Law, which carries a maximum penalty of three months' imprisonment or a maximum fine of Rp 25 million. "Immigration officials are authorized to take administrative immigration measures against foreigners who engage in dangerous activities, are suspected of endangering public order and security, or fail to respect and comply with laws and regulations," Rakha  added. Dodot Adikoeswanto, the Head of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in Banten, appreciated the public for being vigilant and reporting the presence and activities of foreigners causing unrest and suspected of violating the law, especially in the Tangerang area.
