Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Public Interest for Police Trust has presented an award to the Indonesian National Police (INP) and the Attorney General's Office for uncovering the case of the death of 204 children due acute kidney failure.
Although the data was difficult to compile, the INP, in collaboration with the Attorney General's Office, uncovered the case that claimed the lives of 204 vulnerable children after consuming paracetamol syrup with additional ingredients intended for the paint industry.
"We pay tribute to the law enforcement officers, especially the investigators and prosecutors, who we believe worked diligently in their respective roles, both as investigators and prosecutors, to uncover a meticulously planned crime, a crime that was hidden in the absence of data," said Dr M Nasser, the Chairman of the Public Interest for Police Trust, on Monday (18/12/23).
Director of Special Crimes Brigadier General Nunung Saifuddin explained that cooperation with the Food and Drug Administration (BPOM), the Attorney General's Office and other stakeholders were key to the completion of the case investigation.
The police investigators have handed over the suspects and evidence related to the cases of acute kidney failure to the Public Prosecutor's Office.
"I hope we can continue our commitment to fight the actions of those involved in healthcare fraud. If anyone tries, we will take them to court and impose severe sanctions. This shows the seriousness of the government in eradicating health crimes at their roots," he said.
