inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto is targeting 30,000 Red and White Village and Sub-district Cooperatives (KDMP) to be operating optimally by the end of 2026.
He stated that this target was set to strengthen cooperatives as centers of the people's economy while also strengthening the role of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) at the village level.
"Our target is to have 30,000 cooperatives operating optimally by the end of 2026. This is the target," the President stated at the 2026 Annual Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and Regional Representatives Council (DPD) at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday (8/14/2026).
Currently, 10,000 KDMPs are operational. Of these, 3,300 are operating optimally, while the rest are still in the adjustment phase.
According to him, optimally operating cooperatives means that all supporting facilities are in place, from electricity and water to a digital system for centralized stock monitoring.
Cooperatives are also capable of functioning as offtakers, or buyers of agricultural and fishery products for local communities.
Furthermore, the cooperative has been equipped with its own transportation facilities to transport community produce. The President believes this facility is crucial to prevent harvest damage due to market inadequacy or lack of vehicles.
"There will be no more damaged harvests because no one buys them, because there are no trucks to pick them up. Damaged mangoes, damaged rambutans, damaged tomatoes, damaged carrots—God willing, we can optimally help our people with this," he said.
The President believes that the development and strengthening of village cooperatives is part of efforts to strengthen the people's economy. He emphasized that government targets must be set high to maximize work.
He said that high targets will encourage all parties to work harder to achieve them. He argued that if targets are set too low, results tend to be less than optimal.
Prabowo emphasized that strengthening cooperatives is part of the government's strategy to strengthen the foundation of the national economy, which is based on the people.
