"The nine suspects come from 10 cases that are under investigation, while the other 24 cases are still under investigation," said the Head of Public Relations for the East Kalimantan Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Tedy Sopandi.

He stated that the total area of ​​burned land being handled by the cases reached 456.19 hectares, spread across several regencies and cities in East Kalimantan.

Tedy emphasized that the East Kalimantan Regional Police are committed to enforcing the law firmly, professionally, and objectively against all perpetrators of forest fires to create a deterrent effect.

"This action is a concrete effort to protect the public from the impacts on health, the environment, and social and economic activities," he said.

In addition to law enforcement, Tedy said, the East Kalimantan Police are carrying out prevention efforts through integrated patrols, outreach, education, and strengthening coordination with local governments, the Indonesian National Military (TNI), Manggala Agni, and the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).

Tedy appealed to the public, corporations, and landowners not to clear land by burning, as this is a criminal offense.

"We also urge the public to immediately report any hotspots found. Public participation is crucial to preventing fires from spreading," he concluded.
