Inp.polri.go.id - Cilacap. The Ministry of Law and Human Rights has transferred 37 high-risk inmates from East Java to the Super Maximum Security Prison on Nusakambangan Island.
The inmates were moved from correctional facilities in Madiun, Surabaya, Lamongan, and Pamekasan on Sunday (27/7/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
“These inmates were categorized as high-risk based on assessments, investigations, and intelligence reports. They pose serious threats to security and rehabilitation efforts inside prison,” said Kadiono, the Head of the East Java Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The operation was carried out jointly by the internal compliance and intelligence security teams of the Corrections Office, East Java Regional Police, and correctional officers.
The relocation is part of a nationwide crackdown on narcotics and misconduct inside prisons. Inmates will undergo special rehabilitation and behavior change programs at multiple facilities in Nusakambangan Prison.
