Inp.polri.go.id - Bandung. A social media account under the name “DigitalGhostt” claimed to have breached and obtained the personal data of 4.6 million West Java residents.
The claim was posted on X (formerly Twitter) alongside screenshots of a dark web post offering the database, which allegedly includes names, addresses, ID numbers (NIK), emails, and occupations, as reported by antaranews.com on Sunday (27/7/2025)..
The post displayed the official logo of the West Java administration and the label of the Bureau of Governance and Regional Autonomy (Pemotda). However, Pemotda head Faiz Rahman denied the allegation, saying simply, “Not true.”
Cybersecurity expert Budi Rahardjo from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) noted that such claims are often credible, although verification is required.
“Usually these kinds of breaches are real. But we do need to verify it first,” he said.
DigitalGhostt is reportedly an active dark web user with a strong reputation. Another account, @H4ckmanac, linked the hacker to a previous breach of 700,000 records at the Ministry of Defense.
The West Java Communication and Information Office has not yet issued an official statement.
