Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Yahukimo SUb-regional Papu, confirmed that five bodies of victims killed by an armed criminal group (KKB) have been handed over to their families in Dekai after identification.
“The five victims, all illegal gold panners, were returned to their families for burial on Friday,” said Yahukimo Police Chief Supreintendent Zeth Zalino on Friday (3/10/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
He named the deceased as Roberto alias Obet, Unu, Marsel alias Unus, Andika, and Fikram.
Earlier, the bodies of two other victims of the same attack had been evacuated and buried, bringing the total death toll to seven. All suffered gunshot wounds and assault injuries.
Chief Zeth added that five others survived by hiding in the nearby forest before being rescued by joint military-police personnel. The assault was carried out by a KKB faction led by Kopitua Heluka, targeting gold panners across Bingki, Kali Ahom, and Kali Ei.
