Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has confirmed that 520 people have been affected by the 6.3 magnitude earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), with no casualties reported.
"The earthquake has affected 520 people in Kupang Regency, with no deaths or injuries reported,", said Abdul Muhari, the Head of the BNPB's Disaster Management Data, Information and Communication Centre, said on Saturday (4/11/2023).
He highlighted the ongoing disaster management efforts by a unified response team following the 6.3 magnitude earthquake that struck NTT on Thursday (23/11) at 05.04 local time, focusing on assessing structural damage, antaranews.com reported.
Field assessments conducted by BNPB's Operations Control Centre have documented extensive property losses and structural damage in Kupang Regency, Kupang City and South Central Timor Regency due to the earthquake. The affected areas include 124 residential units, 33 government offices, 11 public facilities, 1 educational institution, 1 shopping centre and 1 orphanage dormitory.
"The BNPB Rapid Response Team continues to assist the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) in East Nusa Tenggara Province, Kupang Regency and Kupang City. The rapid response team, led by the acting governor of East Nusa Tenggara, is conducting field visits to the affected areas," he added.
