Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported a 6.5 magnitude earthquake originating in the waters south of West Java.

The quake occurred at 11.29 pm on  Saturday (27/4/2024), with a depth of 10 kilometers. Its coordinates were 8.42 degrees south latitude and 107.26 degrees east longitude, according to antaranews.com.

The epicenter was located 151 kilometers southwest of Garut regency, West Java.

BMKG issued a statement confirming that the earthquake posed no tsunami threat.

There was no report on damages as of Sunday morning.
