Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Mount Ibu, located on Halmahera Island in North Maluku, erupted on Sunday (28/4/2024) at 12:37 am local time , shooting ash columns up to 3,500 meters high. 

Axl Roeroe from Mount Ibu Observation Post said that a seismograph showed a 28-millimeter amplitude lasting 206 seconds. 

The ash, varying from gray to black, drifted westward, according to antaranews.com.

Mount Ibu's summit height is at 1,325 meters above sea level, with a crater diameter of 1 kilometer and a depth of 400 meters. 

The Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation Agency (PVMBG) advised local residents to avoid activities within a 2.0-kilometer radius and a sectoral expansion of 3.5 kilometers toward the crater's northern opening. 

Protective gear is recommended during outdoor activities in case of ashfall.
