Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Central Jakarta Metropolitan Sub-regional police deployed 703 officers to secure the annual Merdeka Run at the National Monument (Monas) square on Sunday morning (24/8/2025), which drew around 8,000 participants.

“To ensure safety and smooth traffic flow, 703 personnel from Metro Jaya Police, Central Jakarta Police, and local police offices were deployed,” said Central Jakarta Police Chief Senior Superintendent Susatyo Purnomo Condro in a statement, as quoted by antaranews.com.

Security measures were carried out without firearms and emphasized a humanist, persuasive approach. Officers were also stationed to assist traffic diversions as road closures were enforced around the Monas square.

The event featured two race categories: an 8-kilometer general run and a 4.5-kilometer family run, with start and finish points at the State Palace and Monas’ Northwest Square. Organizers prepared parking areas, free medical posts, and community entertainment stages.

The police reminded attendees to secure personal belongings and watch children closely.
