Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The government has transferred 1,300 high-risk inmates to the Super Maximum Security Prison in Nusakambangan Island, Central Java, the Directorate General of Corrections confirmed on Sunday (24/8/2025. 

“This is not only about our commitment to fighting drugs and illicit mobile phones, but also about providing proper rehabilitation for our inmates,” said Director General of Corrections Mashudi in a written statement, as quoted by antaranews.com.

This week alone 196 convicts were relocated to Nusakambangan Island. The latest batch included inmates from Riau Islands, West Java, Jambi, South Sumatra, North Sumatra , Riau, and West Sumatra.

Security escorts involved intelligence units, internal compliance teams, police, and prison officers.
