Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A wooden motor boat carrying 77 Rohingya people has stranded on Leuge Beach, Pereulak District, East Aceh Regency, on Wednesday (29/1/2025). 

“They are not allowed to disembark, until representatives from organizations like IOM and UNHCR arrive, said Rizalihadi, a local resident, as quoted by antaranews,com, referring to the International Organization for Migration and the UNHCR stands for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees,

Local reports indicate that the group includes 37 men, 32 women, and 4 children. Thousands of local residents gathered on the beach, offering food to the migrant children while observing the stranded boat.

The boat carrying the Rohingya people was first spotted in the waters of Kuala Bugak, East Aceh, at 11 am local time. It is suspected that they intentionally turned off the boat’s engine, causing it to drift and ultimately get stranded on the beach.

It was the second time in 2025 that Rohingya boat peoples have arrived in Aceh; on January 5, 264 Rohingya people landed on Alue Bu Tuha Beach
