834 Families Displaced After Bandung-Sumedang Strong Winds

Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A total of 834 families have been seeking refuge after strong whirl winds ravaged their homes in Bandung-Sumedang Regency, West Java,. Abdul Muhari, the Head of the Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), said on Thursday (22/2/2024) that the families have temporarily moved to relatives' homes, mosques, and shelters provided by the Yonif Para Raider 330/D Tri Dharma Bandung Military and the Ministry of Social Affairs. BNPB's Operations Control Center confirmed that there were a total of 503 houses, commercial buildings and factories damaged by the wind, consisting of 493 houses in Bandung and 10 houses in Sumedang.  As many as 151 among them were severely damaged by the wind that struck on Wednesday evening, antaranews.com reported. "BPBD teams, along with the military-the police, Basarnas and village apparatus, have been engaged in clearing debris and fallen trees in Sumedang and Bandung," he said, referring to the National Search and Rescue Agency. The incident has injured 33 people but there have been no fatalities reported. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
