Inp.polri.go.id - Semarang. The Central Java Police have uncovered the distribution of approximately 52 kilograms of methamphetamine and around 35,000 ecstasy pills from a drug trafficking network operating across Java and Sumatra.
Inspector General Ahmad Luthfi, the Chief of the Central Java Regional Police, said that the case stemmed from the arrests of two suspects at the East Sragen Toll Gate on 12 January 2024. During the operation, authorities seized 1.01 kilograms of methamphetamine and 250 ecstasy pills as evidence, antaranews.com reported.
"Following the arrest of suspects TO and RW in Sragen, our officers extended the investigation to the Banten region," he said on Friday (23/2/2024).
Subsequently, investigators managed to detain two more individuals at the Cikande Toll Gate in Serang, Banten, on Wednesday. From these suspects, identified as PR and GDA, the police confiscated 51 kilograms of methamphetamine and 34,800 ecstasy pills.
The drugs, originated from Lampung, were transported using a disguised box truck concealed within cardboard boxes labeled as beverage packaging, Chief Luthfi said
He said that the two suspects were promised a payment of Rp200 million to transport the drugs.
The four suspects will be charged under Law Number 35 of 2009 on Narcotics.
