Inp.polri.go.id - Pariaman. A man was removed from a Super Jet plane after joking about a bomb at Minangkabau International Airport on Thursday (222/2/2024).
The Padang Pariaman Sub-regional Police in West Sumatra confirmed that the bomb joke aboard the plane was made by a passenger identified as FF (63).
"During the boarding of a Super Air Jet flight bound for Kualanamu departing at 10 am, one of the passengers jokingly made a remark while placing his belongings on the overhead compartment," said Padang Pariaman Police Chief Superintendent Ahmad Faisol Amir
He explained that the joke was overheard by a flight attendant, who reported it to airport authorities, resulting in the passenger being forcibly removed for questioning.
He emphasized that such jokes caused panic among passengers, airline staff, and airport authorities, thus disturbing the wider community.
Chairman of the Minangkabau International Airport's Airport Operation Control (AOC) Eko Pujianto said that anyone making bomb-related jokes aboard a plane would be dealt with according to regulations.
He said that the man has been questioned by airport authorities for further action according to the applicable rules. He could face up to one year in prison.
