Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Around 86,000 Catholics are expected to attend the grand mass led by Pope Francis at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium in Jakarta on 5 September 2024.
According to spokesperson Father Thomas Ulun Ismoyo on Monday (26/8/2024), the mass will last around 90 minutes and take place across two stadiums: GBK’s Main Stadium, which can accommodate 60,000 people, and the nearby Madya Stadium with space for 26,00, as reported by antaranews.com.
Upon arrival, Pope Francis will tour both stadiums to greet attendees before leading the mass and offering prayers. Father Thomas emphasized that the Pope’s message will focus on spreading God’s love and kindness in Indonesia.
For those unable to attend in person, the event will be live-streamed online. Father Thomas urged attendees to follow all guidelines provided by organizers for a smooth and orderly experience.
The mass is part of Pope Francis’ apostolic journey across Asia Pacific, which includes visits to Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Timor Leste, and Singapore from 2 to 13 September 2024.
