A total of 8,906 inmates across correctional facilities and juvenile institutions in Jakarta received special remission this Eid al-Fitr, reducing their sentences by 15 days to a month. Andika Dwi Prasetya, Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, announced on Wednesday (10/4/2024) that this remission was granted to those demonstrating good behavior. "The remission acknowledges the rehabilitation efforts of every inmate and child," he said, as reported by antaranews.com. Among the recipients, 2,228 were from Cipinang Prison, 1,359 from Salemba Prison, and 2,442 from Jakarta Narcotics Prison. Additionally, 162 female inmates from Jakarta Women's Prison, 45 juveniles, and 1,299 detainees from Cipinang Detention Center also received remission. Another 1,168 inmates from Jakarta Detention Center and 203 from Pondok Bambu Detention Center were included. Of the total remissions, 158 inmates were immediately released or granted Special Remission II.
