Inp.polri.go.id - Garut. Nine out of 13 victims in the expired ammunition explosion in Cibalong, Garut, West Java, have been identified, RSUD Pameungpeuk Regional Hospital officials confirmed on Tuesday (13/5/2025).
The victims include four Indonesian Military (TNI) soldiers and five civilians, according to antaranews.com
The explosion occurred Monday morning during a disposal operation near Sagara Beach. Identification efforts are ongoing, involving joint teams from the TNI, the Indonesian National Police (INP), and RSUD Pameungpeuk hospital.
Head of Information Management at the hospital, Yani Suryani, said the identities of the victims cannot yet be disclosed as further verification by the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team is underway.
Authorities are also collecting supporting personal data from victims' families, such as photos, dental records, and personal belongings, to aid the identification process.
