A total of 850 joint the Indonesian National Police (INP) and the Indonesian Military (TNI) personnel were deployed to secure a traditional peace process in Mulia, Puncak Jaya, Central Papua, following post-election tensions between supporters of rival regional election candidates.
Puncak Jaya Police Chief Superintendent Ahmad Fauzan confirmed the peace ceremony will follow the local tradition of "belah kayu doli"—a symbolic act of reconciliation, as reported by antaranews.com on Monday (12/5/2025).
The ceremony will be attended by high-ranking officials including the Governor, the Papua People's Assembly (MRP), Central Papua Regional Police Chief, and the 173/PVB Military Commander.
Despite earlier clashes, the situation is now under control. Authorities continue conducting patrols and urge residents to maintain peace and avoid provocation.
The Constitutional Court rejected the election dispute case, confirming the victory of Yuni Wonda–Mus Kogoya with 77,296 votes, ahead of Miren Kogoya–Mendi Wonerengga's 65,787 votes.
