inp.polri.go.id - Bone Bolango. Indonesian House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani asked the government to guarantee the safety of Indonesian citizens (WNI) trapped in the conflict zone between India and Pakistan.

"Wherever Indonesian citizens are, the safety of Indonesian citizens must be a priority. The government must ensure the safety and security of our citizens, both in India and Pakistan," said Puan in a statement received in Jakarta, Thursday.

Puan also encouraged the government to conduct a more in-depth mapping, especially regarding the worst-case scenario that might occur.

"And if the situation is getting worse, the evacuation process for Indonesian citizens can be carried out from both countries," she said.

Although the Indonesian Embassy in New Delhi and Islamabad confirmed that no Indonesian citizens were victims of the tension between India and Pakistan, she asked the government to consider carrying out an evacuation.

As a friendly country and strategic partner, he said, Indonesia hopes that India and Pakistan can resolve their differences through dignified and fair dialogue, by upholding the principles of humanity, international law, and protection of civilians.

Puan also emphasized that Indonesia, as a country with an active and free foreign policy, has an interest in maintaining regional peace and stability.

"There is no victory in a war that claims civilian casualties. Every life lost is a wound to humanity. We hope that both countries will immediately stop attacks and military actions so that no more innocent victims fall," he said.
