92,300 Jakarta Drivers Cited During  2024 Zebra Jaya Crackdown

Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police Directorate of Traffic has cited against 92,300 drivers during the 2024 Zebra Jaya Operation, held from 14 to 27 October 2024. 

Of these, 65,859 citations were issued through electronic traffic law enforcement (E-TLE) cameras, as confirmed by Metro Jaya Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent, Ade Ary Syam Indradi, on Monday (28/10/2024).

An additional 26,441 violations were handled through warnings. 

Common infractions among motorcyclists included 21,500 instances of non-standard helmets, 8,518 cases of driving against traffic, and 6,252 violations of road markings, according to antaranews.com.

Among car drivers, 29,016 cases involved seatbelt violations, 570 instances involved mobile phone use while driving, and three cases involved misuse of diplomatic license plates.

The operation also recorded a rise in traffic accidents, totaling 164 cases in 2024—an increase of 22.4% from 134 cases in 2023. The accidents resulted in 12 fatalities, 16 severe injuries, and 174 minor injuries, with material losses amounting to IDR 184.3 million.

In addition to enforcement, police also conducted preventive efforts, including traffic education, banners, and traffic management, urging drivers to obey road rules.
