Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Pratikno, maintained on Monday (28/10/2024) the government's commitment to prioritizing disaster risk reduction under the Red and White Cabinet.

The government’s approach will integrate National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) initiatives with various ministries and agencies to maximize efforts, he said.

“Our ministry is ready to take on disaster risk tasks to the best of its ability,”  Minister Pratikno said, as quoted by antaranews.com..

He emphasized coordinated efforts among ministries, local administrations, and the legislature, facilitated by clear role distribution and budget optimization.

“BNPB remains essential for preparedness, given the unpredictability of disasters,” Minister Pratikno added.

BNPB’s 2025 budget is set at Rp927.57 billion, marking a significant 67.3% decrease from 2024. The agency has proposed an additional Rp1.887 trillion for initiatives, including its Disaster Resilient Village Program—aimed at setting up sirens, evacuation markers, and hazard education in 181 villages located in 13 megathrust zones. Funds will also go towards replacing outdated disaster-response vehicles at regional disaster agencies.

According to BNPB data, Indonesia recorded 5,400 disasters in 2023, with 95% involving floods, landslides, storms, and droughts. Despite a 52% rise in incidents, technological and educational advancements have significantly mitigated damage and casualties.
