Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI) in Los Angeles confirmed that 97 Indonesian citizens and several members of the diaspora have been impacted by wildfires in Southern California.
Affected areas include Pasadena (60 people), Altadena (20), Sylmar (10), and Calabasas (7).
“We urge Indonesians to stay calm, follow local authorities’ instructions, and monitor updates,” said Consul General Purnomo A. Chandra on Saturday (11/1/2025).
Since 7 January 2025, the Consulate General has issued early warnings through social media and community WhatsApp groups. The fires have claimed 10 lives and forced 180,000 people to evacuate. Indonesians affected have moved to government shelters.
While conditions in some areas are improving, risks remain due to dry weather and strong winds. The Consulate General is prepared for further evacuations and continues to provide consular services, logistical support, and information.
