inp.polri.go.id - Malaka. The Malaka Sub-regional Police have arrested two people in Rainawe Village, Kobalima District, Malaka Regency, on suspicion of abusing a monkey. This action is part of the police's commitment to maintaining order and protecting animals from violence.

The two individuals have been identified as JX (35), a farmer, and JRD (18), a student. Both are the people of Raihenek C Hamlet, Rainawe Village, Kobalima District.

Based on initial information gathered by the police, the alleged abuse occurred on Tuesday (1/22/2026). The suspects allegedly abused the monkey using an air rifle and a piece of wood.

The two are currently being held in the police station for further questioning. Police also secured evidence in the form of an air rifle suspected of being used in the incident.

The Head of Public Relations for the NTT Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Henry Novika Chandra, emphasized that they fully support the Malaka Sub-regional Police's swift action in prosecuting any unlawful acts, including acts of violence against animals.

"We do not tolerate any form of violence, whether against humans or animals. The handling of this case demonstrates our seriousness in enforcing the law and providing a deterrent effect," said Henry.

He added that the police will follow up on the case in accordance with applicable laws and prioritize a professional and transparent investigation process.

"We also urge the public not to resort to vigilantism or violence against animals. If any incidents have the potential to violate the law, immediately report them to the police for proper handling," conclude Henry
