inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) stated that the Terrorism Prevention Coordination Forum (FKPT) needs to be strengthened so that potential terrorist threats can be detected early.

BNPT Head, Eddy Hartono, stated that the FKPT's role has been as an early warning and mitigation tool. 

"The FKPT's role in 36 provinces has been effective, but it needs to be strengthened," he said on Thursday (1/22/2026).

Furthermore, the BNPT Head stated that the FKPT's implementation fulfills the mandate of Law Number 5 of 2018, namely prevention through national preparedness and community empowerment.

The FKPT is a forum established by the BNPT at the regional (provincial/city) level as a strategic partner to coordinate and implement terrorism and radicalism prevention programs through community empowerment, education, research, and the dissemination of moderate religious understanding to build national resilience.

Umbu Kabunang Rudi Yanto Hunga, a member of Commission XIII of the House of Representatives (DPR), believes that strengthening the FKPT is essential, among other things, to better reach the younger generation.

"The FKPT must be strengthened because the BNPT's primary responsibility is prevention. Hopefully, the FKPT can target and implement mitigation efforts in schools and youth," said Umbu.
