Inp.polri.go.id - Banda Aceh. The Aceh administration has confirmed that non-governmental international humanitarian assistance is permitted to enter Aceh following recent disasters affecting Sumatra, while government-to-government aid remains restricted.
Aceh administration spokesperson Muhammad MTA said on Monday (22/12/2025) that international assistance from foreign non-state actors is allowed after coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs.
“International assistance for the Sumatra disaster is allowed to enter, provided it is non-governmental in nature,” he said, as reported by antaranews.com.
He explained that aid delivered by international NGOs must be reported to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) and the Aceh Disaster Management Agency (BPBA). Any logistics assistance must comply with disaster reporting regulations, while recovery programs will be coordinated with both the central and provincial governments.
The policy applies as Aceh prepares its post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction plan under central government supervision. The Aceh administration emphasized that recovery efforts continue, with the governor conducting field visits to affected areas to accelerate coordinated and strategic responses.
