Inp.polri.go.id - Banda Aceh. The Aceh administration has formally requested assistance from two United Nations agencies to support post-disaster response and recovery following severe floods and landslides across the region.
“We have officially requested the involvement of international organizations, particularly UNDP and UNICEF, based on their experience in Aceh since the 2004 tsunami,” Aceh administration spokesperson Muhammad MTA said on Monday (15/12/2025), explaining that authorities intensify efforts to manage humanitarian needs and early recovery.
The appeal is directed to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to strengthen emergency response, protection, and recovery programs. Currently, 77 organizations with 1,960 registered volunteers are operating under the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Volunteer Desk and Aceh Command Post.
Muhammad said coordination with the central government, the military, the police, and humanitarian partners will continue to ensure effective disaster management and community recovery across affected districts.
