Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said the government has not yet decided on any adjustment to the Value Added Tax (VAT) for 2026, as the policy will depend on national economic performance.
Speaking in Jakarta on Monday (15/12/2025), he stressed that no decision would be taken before concrete growth data are assessed.
“There is no decision yet. We need to see whether our economy can grow faster or not,” Minister Purbaya said, as quoted by antaranews.com
He explained that if economic growth exceeds 6 percent, the government would have broader fiscal space to manage VAT policy more flexibly, including the option to raise or lower the rate. However, he cautioned against speculation without clear indicators.
The Finance Ministry is currently prioritizing improvements in revenue collection systems across taxation and customs. An evaluation of revenue performance is expected by the end of the first quarter of 2026, which will inform the final decision.
