Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Actor Ammar Zoni has been accused of running a drug distribution network inside Salemba Prison since January 2025, officials confirmed Friday (10/20/2025). 

Authorities said Ammar, currently serving a three-year sentence for a previous narcotics offense, acted as a middleman receiving methamphetamine and marijuana from outside sources before distributing them to five inmates.

“Our officers grew suspicious during a routine inspection on 3 January 2025 and found meth and dried marijuana in his possession,” said Central Jakarta Detention Center Head Wahyu Trah Utomo, as quoted by antaranews.com.

Investigators found the suspects used an encrypted communication app called Zangi to contact suppliers outside the facility. 

The case, now in its second phase, has been handed to prosecutors and will proceed to trial. 

The Directorate General of Corrections pledged strict punishment for any inmates involved.
