Inp.polri.go.id - Lubuk Basung. Agam Sub-regional Police in West Sumatra has issued 158 traffic citations during a seven-day operation, "Zebra Singgalang," from September 4 to September 10, 2023. Most of the citations were given to underage drivers.
First Inspector Apriman Sural, Head of the Traffic Unit at Agam Sub-regional Police, said that they also issued warnings to 375 drivers and impounded 40 vehicles. Violations included missing vehicle documents, no driver's licenses, and vehicle modifications.
The operation primarily targeted violations such as helmetless riders and motorcycles with improper license plates. Other infractions included noisy exhaust systems, wrong-way driving, and exceeding passenger limits, with underage drivers being the most common offenders.
Operation Zebra involved daily patrols. Officers issued citations whenever they encountered violations.
To reduce violations, promote traffic compliance and road safety among students, Agam Sub-regional Police's Traffic Unit conducted school outreach programs every Monday during flag-raising ceremonies, antaranews.com reported.
"I hope that these outreach activities will lead to fewer violations and accidents," he said
