Inp.polri.go.id - Jambi. A 23-year-old female Sumatran tiger named Si Uni, long part of the Taman Rimba Jambi zoo collection, died on Thursday at noon (29/5/2025), reportedly due to age-related complications.
“She died around 12 pm, likely from old age and various health issues,” said Agung Nugroho, the Head of the Jambi Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA), as quoted by antara news.com.
According to zoo veterinarians, Si Uni had shown a significant loss of appetite over the past two weeks and was also suffering from cataracts in both eyes. A necropsy has been performed to determine the precise cause of death.
Agung noted that Si Uni had lived well beyond the typical 10–15-year lifespan for Sumatran tigers. Samples of her organs, blood, and swabs have been collected for analysis.
Her remains have been transported to the BKSDA’s wildlife rescue center for burial.
