Inp.polri.go.id - Subang. The Ministry of Social Affairs is scheduled to enroll 100,000 children from poor and extremely poor families in new government-run boarding schools known as Sekolah Rakyat, starting in July 2025.

“Preparations are underway. We hope to launch the schools by the new academic year in July,” said Deputy Social Affairs Minister Agus Jabo Priyono during a visit to Subang, West Java, Thursday (29/5/2025).

He added that the initiative, a directive from President Prabowo Subianto, targets the opening of 100 Sekolah Rakyat sites this year. Each school will accommodate 1,000 students across primary to secondary levels.

“All student needs — uniforms, meals, school supplies, and boarding — will be fully covered by the state,” Agus said, as quoted by antara news.cm.

The program aims to provide not only academic education but also character-building, religious values, and vocational training to help break the cycle of poverty in Indonesia. Admissions will be coordinated through the ministry, local governments, and social services agencies.
