Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Attorney General's Office (AGO) has stepped up efforts to clean up internal corruption following the recent arrest of six people, including officials from the Bondowoso Prosecutor's Office in East Java by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
The crackdown follows allegations of corruption in the handling of a case by the the Bondowoso Prosecutor's Office.
Ketut Sumedana, the Head of the AGO's Legal Information Centre, reiterated the commitment to take strict action against any prosecutor involved in criminal activities or abuse of authority. He emphasized the AGO's openness to external reporting and encouraged individuals, including the media, to immediately report any misconduct or abuse of power.
The recent KPK operation in Bondowoso resulted in the arrest of Head Bondowoso Prosecutor's Office Puji Triasmoro and Head of General Crimes Department of the Bondowoso Prosecutor's Office Alexander Silaen. In addition to the officials, two private individuals linked to CV Wijaya Gemilang, Yossy S Setiawan and Andhika Imam Wijaya, were arrested. KPK also seized evidence of alleged bribes totalling Rp475 million.
Ketut expressed his deep appreciation for the KPK's law enforcement efforts and emphasised the AGO's commitment to creating a morally upright and intelligent legal workforce. He urged external cooperation in maintaining a clean and transparent judiciary.
As the AGO focuses on uncovering high-profile corruption cases, including the multi-trillion rupiah corruption scandal at the Ministry of Communication and Information, Ketut stressed the importance of recruiting ethical and dedicated prosecutors.
